On May 20, 2021, His Grace Bishop Abgar Hovakimyan, Primate, and Vicar Rev. Archpriest Zareh Zargarian, Parish Priest of Holy Trinity Armenian Church of Toronto, participated in the Governing Board meetings of the Canadian Council of Churches.

The Right Honorable Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada; Minister of Labour Filomena Tassi; Minister of Families, Children and Social Development Ahmed Hussen; President of the Treasury Board Jean-Yves Duclos; Parliamentary Secretary of Foreign Affairs Rob Oliphant; Member of Parliament John McKay joined the meetings and responded to questions formulated by the member-churches.

Recently, a joint letter to the Prime Minister was initiated by the Armenian Diocese of Canada and co-signed by the leaders of 26 members of the Canadian Council of Churches asking the Government to take measures aiming to ensure the security and preservation of the multi-millenary Armenian cultural heritage in Artsakh.

Fr. Zareh expressed gratitude to the Government of Canada for the humanitarian support provided to Artsakh and for canceling the arms export permits to Turkey.
