On May 9, 2015, His Grace Bishop Abgar Hovakimian, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Canada, attended the Armenian Genocide 100th Anniversary Commemoration Prayer at the St. Boniface Roman Catholic Church, offered by His Grace Bishop Frederick Henry, Primate of Diocese of Calgary of the Catholic Church and organized by Deacon Adrian Martens in cooperation with Mrs. Mayda Beylerian, Chairperson of the Holy Almighty Armenian Parish of Calgary.

The Service was hosted by Reverend Henry Rosenbaum and Deacon Adrian Martens and was presided by Fr. Brian Hubka who offered the homily. Also present were the Priest of the Coptic Orthodox Church Father Aghathon Sayed who shared his respects to the Armenian cause.

Zarouhie Soukiassian and Leila Abadjian sung Armenian liturgical hymns during the Prayer.

Chairperson Mayda Beylerian thanked the clergy present as well as the community members. She also read letters from The Honorable Michelle Rempel, PC.MP; regrets from recently elect Alberta Premiere Rachel Notley’s office and a letter from the Calgary Jewish Federation representatives Bruce Libin, Jeffrey Smith and Adam Silver.

His Grace Bishop Hovakimain expressed his gratitude to the clergy and the Roman Catholic Diocese for honouring memory of Saint Armenian Martyrs and shared his blessings to the parishioners.
