On April 23, 2015, Rev. Fr. Komitas Mirzakhanyan, Pastor of Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church of Laval, accompanied by a delegation of the Diocesan representatives, on behalf of His Grace Bishop Abgar Hovakimian, Primate of the Armenian Apostolic Church Canadian Diocese, participated in commemoration of the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide at the Montreal City Hall. The event was organized with active participation of Mr. Harout Chitilian, Vice-Chairman of the Montreal Executive Committee.<\/p>\n
His Worship Denis Coderre, the Mayor of Montreal, accompanied by the elected authorities of the City of Montreal, welcomed representatives of religious, political, and community-based organizations who came to honour the memory of Saint Armenian Martyrs and expressed solidarity with the Armenian people highlighting the importance of proper remembrance of Saint Armenian Martyrs of 1915.<\/p>\n
In his speech, Mayor Coderre condemned the Armenian Genocide and paid particular attention to the role and contribution of Montreal Armenians in the life of the city.<\/p>\n
