The Parish Council of St. Vartan Armenian Church of Mississauga is pleased to announce that Rev. Fr. Myron Sarkissian became the spiritual leader of the community on a full time basis. As part of this change, Der Myron will relocate to Mississauga with his wife, Narine and two children Gayane (16) and Yeghia (14).

This positive development for our Parish would not have been possible without the support of His Eminence Bishop Bagrat Galstanian and the financial assistance of the Diocesan Council.

Please join the St. Vartan annual picnic on July 17 at Bronte Park starting at 12:30 p.m. to welcome Der Myron and his family to St. Vartan community.

Reverend Father Myron Sarkissian, was the Diocesan Director of Christian Education and Youth Ministry department, and Parish Priest of St. Mesrob Armenian Church of Ottawa, and visiting pastor of St. Vartan Armenian Parish of Mississauga. Father Myron, whose baptismal name is Hovhannes, was born in Beirut in 1973.

He is married to Narine Galstyan and they have two children, Gayane and Yeghia.

Father Myron’s education includes the Armenian Evangelical School in Beirut, Lebanon, and “Zarehian Tebrevank” the Armenian Theological Seminary of the Great House of Cilicia in Bikfayya, Lebanon.

He was ordained Deacon in 1993 in Etchmiadzin, and graduated from the Gevorkian Theological Seminary at Etchmiadzin, Armenia (1987-1994). In 1994, he was ordained Priest in Cairo, Egypt by Archbishop Zaven Chinchinian.

– 1996-2003, Armenian Cathedral of Cologne, Germany
– 2003-2007 Armenian communities of Sudan and Ethiopia

Father Myron speaks and writes Armenian, English, Arabic, German. He has published Armenian periodicals in Sudan, Ethiopia and Germany, and an archival collection book (two volumes) in Ethiopia.
