The parish of Holy Cross Armenian Church of Laval celebrated the day of the Assumption of Mother of God, with a spiritual and festive day and luncheon following the Divine Liturgy.
The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the Pastor, Rev. Fr. Komitas Mirzakhanyan accompanied by the church Deacons and Acolytes. In his sermon, Rev. Father Komitas Mirzakhanyan explained the important role of St. Mary in the life of every Christian and congratulated all the name bearers of St. Mary, Mother of God and he wished them all well. He also explained the meaning of blessing of grapes and why the Armenian Church blesses the grapes. Fr. Komitas expressed his gratitude to the donors of the grapes and the Ladies Group who helped with the Grape Blessing preparations.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy Fr. Komitas invited all the faithful to participate the Blessing of grapes ceremony. All present were invited for lunch organized by the dedicated and hardworking members of the Ladies Guild of Holy Cross Church. During the lunch Fr. Komitas thanked Ladies Guild members and everyone involved in making this day a successful festivity where families and friends joined together to have a special day of prayer and a wonderful time.
