On 24 October, 2012 in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received Mrs. Dafina Gercheva; the United Nations Resident Coordinator and Development Program Resident Representative in Armenia.
During the meeting His Holiness bid farewell to Mrs. Gercheva, for the successful finish of her mission, and expressed His appreciation to her for the capable service she had given to Armenia during her mission. He wished her much success in her future missions. His Holiness also praised the various programs which the UN implements for the benefit of developing the world as well, and thanked them for the collaboration between the UN and Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
His Holiness Catholicos congratulated Mrs. Gercheva on the occasion of UN Day and wished that all UN assistance and human services programs be successful and conduce a peaceful and safe way of living.
They also discussed the issue of providing assistance to the people of Syria, and the various types of programs and initiatives by UN organizations, which will be directed to this challenging issue. They also spoke of the steps taken by the Mother See.
