On Saturday August 31, 2013, those faithful who attended the one day retreat: GOD’s PRESENCE AMONG ARMENIANS -Աստուծոյ ներկայութիւնը Հայերուս մէջ – were treated to a wonderful experience, organized by St. Vartan Armenian Church of Mississauga and hosted by Reverend Father. Myron Sarkissian.
Almost 90 participants from Southern Ontario parishes gathered at Fogolar’s Country Club in beautiful pastoral rural Milton for a continental breakfast, after which the first lecture began. At mid-day, a traditional Italian light lunch was enjoyed by all, along with beverages and sweets throughout the event. The retreat featured guest speakers:
Archimandrite Meghrig Parikian, Parish Priest of St. Mary Armenian Church of Toronto, who spoke about the History of Armenian Liturgical Music.- Rev. Archpriest Father Zareh Zargarian, Parish Priest of Holy Trinity Armenian Church of Toronto, who spoke about the Presence of God in our daily lives, and
- Reverend Father Serop Azarian, Parish Priest of St. Mary Armenian Church of Hamilton and St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church of St. Catharines, whose lectured on the symbolism of the Armenian Liturgy.
Each speaker encouraged a question-and-answer period after his lecture. All participants were very impressed by the great topics and informative, interesting and educational speakers.
Many thanks to the organizing committee of this uplifting retreat event. We are already asking when the next session will be! (by Mona Selyan)
