A1On Saturday, October 12, the Armenian Church will observe the Feast of the Holy Translators, which commemorates the disciples of Mesrob Mashdots who worked alongside the creator of the Armenian alphabet to translate the Bible and other ecclesiastical works into the Armenian language. The first words written in Armenian were from the Book of Proverbs: ”To know wisdom and instruction; to perceive the words of understanding” (Proverbs 1:2).

Mesrob Mashdots and his disciples also opened schools to teach the newly discovered alphabet and traveled across Armenia preaching the Word of God.
