The Supreme Spiritual Council met at Holy Etchmiadzin from March 11 to 13. His Holiness Karekin II, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, presided over the meeting, which was chaired by Archbishop Aram Ateshyan, Patriarchal Vicar of Constantinople and Archbishop Khajag Barsamian, Primate of the Eastern Diocese.
The council discussed renovation work at Holy Etchmiadzin, the formal process of recognizing as saints the Armenian martyrs of 1915, the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, and the Blessing of Muron ceremony scheduled for 2015. Archbishop Barsamian also presented plans for this year’s Bishops Synod, which is scheduled for November.
