The Annual Clergy meeting of the Diocese was held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 in Montreal and presided by His Eminence Archbishop Nathan.
Rev. Archpriest Keghart Garapetian (Vancouver), Rev. Archpriest Zareh Zargarian (Toronto), Rev. Fr. Vazken Boyajian (Montreal), Rev. Fr. Komitas Mirzakhanian (Laval) and Rev. Father Myron Sarkissian (Mississauga) attended the meeting.
His Eminence congratulated the clergy on the feast of St. Leontius and his companions, wishing our parish priests success in their mission. The meeting was chaired by Der Zareh Zargarian and the secretary was Fr. Myron Sarkissian.
The spiritual life of the parishes was the main focus of the meeting and also the plan for religious publications to further Bible and Liturgical studies especially for younger generation in our community. It was agreed to seek new ways to safeguard the knowledge of the mother tongue and support the establishment of Armenian language courses in small parishes, where there aren’t any Armenian day schools. The report of each parish was discussed and experiences were shared amongst the clergy of the Diocese.
Archbishop Nathan urged the parish priests to remain loyal to the historical mission of the Armenian Church in the life of our Nation by keeping the Christian faith alive and safeguarding the Armenian identity.
The meeting ended with prayers to Almighty God for the well being of our Church and parishes in Canada.
