Meeting with the members of the Steering Committee of the Surb Khach church of Laval
On February 7, 2015 Primate of the Armenian Apostolic Church Canadian Diocese, His Grace Bishop Abgar Hovakimian held a meeting with the members of the Steering Committee of the Surb Khach Armenian Apostolic Church of Laval, Quebec. The meeting was dedicated to the initiative of construction of a new church in Laval.
On February 5 the Primate appointed a Steering Committee mandated to elaborate recommendations for the Diocesan Council and the Diocesan Board of Trustees concerning the construction of the new Armenian Apostolic Church in Laval. The Committee is composed of the acting priest of the Surb Khach church (ex officio), the Chairperson of the Parish Council (ex officio), Mr. Ohan Ohannesian, Mr. Vahagn Arapian, Mr. Jack Seraydarian, Mr. Martiros Paikn, and Ms Azatuhi Polat.
Highlighting the necessity of the development of the church infrastructure in Laval members of the Committee presented three possible solutions, such as the construction of a new church; purchase of an existing building and its adaptation; and further expansion and upgrading of the existing church building. It was decided to further consider suitability of any option and to elaborate recommendations for the consideration by the Diocesan Council and the Diocesan Board of Trustees.
