Primate of Armenian Church of Canada, Bishop Galstanian paid pastoral visits to the Armenian communities of Vancouver and Calgary, from March 4 to March 14, 2011.
In Vancouver, Bishop Galstanian celebrated Holy Divine Liturgy on March 6, 2011 and delivered the sermon of the day to the faithful in attendance for the Holy Badarak. Following the service, Bishop Bagrat presided over the Annual General meeting of the parish.
St. Vartan Armenian Church held its AGM, to review the reports of the pastor, parish council and the auxiliary bodies of the Church. The meeting also provided the opportunity to hold in depth discussions on, a wide range of issues of interest for the local community and other initiatives relating to the Diocese and the mission of our church in Canada
During this visit, St. Vartan Church community of Vancouver surprised His Eminence with a party to mark the 15th anniversary of his ordination to priesthood. The gathering took place in the Setrak Kalpakian Hall of the Church, on Saturday March 5, 2011. This special event was organized by the Parish Council and the Vancouver Chapter of CAAPA.
The following week, Primate Galstanian, continued his trip with a visitation to the Holy Almighty Church parish in Calgary. Upon his arrival Srpazan met with the Parish Council members for discussions of issues concerning the life of the newly formed parish in western Canada. During his stay in Calgary, His Eminence celebrated the Holy Liturgy and following Sourp Badarak, the Chair of the Parish Council presented a Khatchkar (cross stone) to His Eminence on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of his ordination to priesthood. During his time in Calgary, Srpazan, also met with some of the families to hold traditional ceremonies of home blessings.
