On Saturday, October 19, 2013 His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisian, Locum Tenens of the Armenian Church Diocese of Canada attended the 38th anniversary of Abaka weekly newspaper that was held at Tekeyan Cultural Association.
During the event, Srpazan Hayr was invited to convey his message. His Eminence expressed his joy and congratulated the Executive Board, Editor in Chief and all the volunteers of ABAKA weekly newspaper and wished them success in their future mission. He 
highlighted the importance of Armenian printed media in Diaspora that is not necessarily for distributing the news but to keep the Armenian language and spirit alive in our families. His Eminence said “the Armenian Alphabet is one of the vivid expressions of our identity.”
Editor of Abaka Avedis Bakkalian expressed gratitude to all who support the weekly both journalistically and financially.
A musical program performed by Quator Rhapsodie quartet followed, consisting of creations by Komidas and international popular tunes mostly arranged by the first violin Nayiri Piloyan.
