On Saturday, September 10, 2011 the Armenian Church and community members of Windsor gathered in an Anglican Church in Windsor to celebrate the Divine Liturgy together. The celebrant was Rev. Fr. Serop Azarian. He was assisted by Deacon Albert Amato and diaconal candidate Manuel Akjambazian, A small number of choir members, were invited to participate in the service, from nearby Detroit.

The community gathered around 2 pm at the doors of the church. The Divine Liturgy was offered and special requiem was said in memory of the September 11th terror attacks which took place in the United States, 10 years ago.
Being the eve of the Feast of Exaltation of the Holy Cross, a special cross processional ‘Antastan Khatchveratsi’ took place, and with it the blessing of the basil ‘rehan’ as a symbol of rejuvenating life of the cross and the Orthodox christian with it. There were 75 people in the church along with many children.

Fr. Serop conveyed the blessings and greetings of His Eminence Bishop Bagrat Galstanian, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Canada and delivered a moving sermon to the faithful. During the service the Primate offered blessings to the families who had requested special prayers. He exhorted, blessed and parted with them in peace until their next meeting. Later in the day, Fr. Serop had a chance to sit with a few families and speak with them on a one to one basis to have a closer communication with the faithful and have the opportunity to answer their questions.

May God bless the Holy Resurrection Armenian Church in Windsor and grant them the utmost blessings of the Lord from above.
