On December 15, 2019, His Grace Bishop Abgar Hovakimyan, Primate, assisted by Rev. Fr. David Margaryan, Parish Priest, and Rev. Fr. Gevorg Abyan, celebrated Divine Liturgy and delivered the sermon on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Cathedral of Montreal.
On this occasion, Her Excellency Anahit Harutyunyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia to Canada, accompanied by the Embassy staff, participated in the Divine Liturgy and the celebration of the Cathedral anniversary.
Upon conclusion of the Liturgy, Diocesan Primate inaugurated the memorial plaque in honour of Dr. Arto Demirdjian and Family, for the donation made by the Demirdjian Family for restoration of the Diocesan Cathedral.
After the inauguration, the faithful gathered at the Marie Manoogian Hall to celebrate the Cathedral anniversary, where dedicated members of the Parish Council auxiliary bodies were honoured by the Diocesan Primate, Parish Priest and the Parish Council.
