St. Gregory Armenian Apostolic Church of St. Catharines held its annual Parish Assembly on Sunday, February 24, 2013, in the presence of His Eminence Bishop Bagrat Galstanian, Primate of the Armenian Apostolic Church of Canada.
The Divine Liturgy was offered by Rev. Fr. Serop Azarian, the pastor, with the deacons Albert Amato and Harout Zakaryan assisting. Also for this occasion there were special guests: Rev. Fr. Myron Sarkissian, Pastor of St. Vartan Armenian Apostolic Church in Mississauga, and deacons Van Vanes and Manuel Akcambazian.
In his sermon, Fr. Serop spoke about the lost son and the recovered love, emphasizing the importance to implement the words of the Holy Gospel in our lives and accepting one another just like the father accepted his prodigal son.
The Annual Parish Assembly commenced at 1:30 pm. Following the confirmation of the members present, Srbazan Hayr opened the meeting with a prayer. The reports of the respective church bodies were read and some discussion ensued about current and past issues. Comments and suggestions were made to make the life of the parish healthier and more serene.
The elections this year resulted in the following member being newly elected,
Dr. Hagop Mazmanian, Harout Zakarian, Hrant Paroyan, Hrayr Paroyan, Lisa Torosian-Pontikas, Jeanette Vanderlee. Deacon Albert Amato has one year remaining in his term.
As for the church’s Delegates the following were elected: Dr. Hagop Mazmanian, Deacon Albert Amato. Arsen Kassabian still has one year remaining. (by Rev. Fr. Serop Azarian)
