A new exhibit documenting the role of Holy Etchmiadzin during the Armenian Genocide is now available online. Titled “The First Refuge and the Last Defense: The Armenian Church, Etchmiadzin, and the Armenian Genocide,” it contains more than 150 photographs, as well as maps, news clippings, testimonies, and other documents tracing Holy Etchmiadzin’s response to the waves of survivors who sought refuge in Eastern Armenia.
The exhibit was prepared by the Armenian National Institute, Armenian Genocide Museum of America, and Armenian Assembly of America, in cooperation with the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute in Yerevan, and the Republic of Armenia National Archives.
