Ani Altounian, Camp Ararat Executive Director, decorated with the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers

On March 27, 2019, Ani Altounian, Diocesan Summer Youth Camp “Ararat” Executive Director, was decorated with the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers.

On behalf of the Governor General of Canada, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Julie Payette the Medal has been presented by Her Worship Bonnie Crombie, Mayor of Mississauga.

The official citation reads as follows:

“Ani Altounian has been giving back to communities in Ottawa, Toronto and Mississauga for over two decades. Since 2005, she has volunteered with the Ararat Summer Camp, a unique program for Canadian-Armenian youth. Under her leadership, the camp has grown in terms of both attendees and geographic reach.”
