On this Day of Remembrance 2011, the Diocese of the Armenian Church of Canada, the Primate with the Diocesan Council, the Clergy and the faithful, join with our fellow citizens in commemorating the brave members of Canada’s armed forces who fought, suffered and died in the line of duty for our nation. Remembrance is the collective power to never forget the sacrifices of all who have served their nation in time of war and peacekeeping.
In honoring our war dead we recognize all those who laid down their lives for Canada and enshrined our values and respect for freedom and peace. The principles they defended and fought for are fundamental to the Canadian democratic tradition and the deeply held value of human rights and freedoms enjoyed by all the citizens of Canada, today.
We express the deeply shared sentiments of reverence and appreciation from the Armenian community throughout the country. In Canada, we have found refuge, peace, tolerance and freedom, the same values fought and defended by the brave young men and women we remember on this solemn occasion.
May God bless Canada.
