The Holy Resurrection Armenian Apostolic Church of Windsor, Ontario had the blessing of celebration of the Nativity, Birth and Baptism of our Lord Jesus Christ on January 15, 2012, just a week after the actual date of Nativity. The Rev. Fr. Serop Azarian, pastor who previously visited the Parish on September 18, 2011 made his second pastoral visit for this church service.
This was a special day for the parish, for His Eminence Bishop Bagrat Galstanian, Primate of the Diocese was also present along with Father Isahak Pogosyan, a University student who is currently on a visit to Canada. Also, present were Deacons Albert Amato from New York, and Deacons Mher and Saro.
The Divine Liturgy was offered by the Rev. Fr. Serop Azarian, in the Anglican Church rented by the community. The Badarak created sacred spiritual atmosphere in which all church members participated in the Holy Liturgy. The Primate took this opportunity to honour a war veteran and dedicated member of the community, Mr. Arthur Kuderian, and presented him with the medal of the Holy Cross of the Diocese.
To commemorate the baptism of our Lord Jesus, the water of Nativity celebration was blessed by the three clergymen. The Godfather of the water blessing was Mr. Libarid Stamboulian.
After the Divine Liturgy the community gathered for a luncheon across the street from the church. Words of encouragement, participation and dedication were conveyed by Father Serop with closing words and prayer from Bagrat Srbazan. The pastor had a chance to meet with a group of Parish Council members to discuss and brainstorm some ideas for projects and initiatives. Decisions were taken and reported to the Diocese. The community remains enthusiastic to meet next time on April 15, 2012 for the Easter celebration. (By Fr. Serop Azarian)
