The Holy Resurrection Armenian Apostolic Church celebrated its name day and the Easter Sunday holiday on Sunday, April 15, 2012. The church welcomed its visiting pastor the Rev. Fr. Serop Azarian, who visited Windsor along with Deacon Manuel and Mrs. Ani Akcambazian. The six choir members and the organist were specially invited from Detroit’s St. John Armenian Apostolic Church. Also a local organist; Mrs. Lusine Petorsyan participated in the Liturgy.

The Divine Liturgy was offered in a very spiritually enriching environment, and before the sermon Fr. Serop conveyed the blessings and greetings of His Grace Bishop Bagrat Galstanian, who was in Jerusalem in pilgrimage.

Fr. Serop gave a sermon about the loss of life and the miracle of resurrection. He said: “Loss of life and the death of our martyrs would have never stopped a people bent on living and decided that they should follow their Lord in carrying the cross with symbolized death to others, while it gave life to those who carried it.” He encouraged the parishioners to remain faithful and strong in their life as Armenian-Christians and to help and cooperate in life to make Christ’s presence felt around them.

Following the Divine Liturgy, the parishioners gathered at the Hall close to the Church, where they enjoyed a common meal and sweets together, and had a good time in cracking eggs and observing games among the children.

The anniversary cake was cut and the parishioners had a wonderful day promising to gather again on July 22nd, where they will have a short Jashoo Badarak and the annual picnic of the community where everyone is invited. More information could be seen on the church’s website hrac.weebly.com
