On March 24, the Armenian Church celebrated the Feast of Palm Sunday, which commemorates the triumphant entry of our Lord Jesus Christ into Jerusalem.
Under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, Palm Sunday is also annually declared to be the Blessing of Children Day. Following morning services, the blessing service for the four corners of the world (Andastan) was offered in front of the Mother Cathedral, after which His Holiness blessed and distributed palm and willow branches to the faithful.
Later that same morning, His Holiness presided as the Divine Liturgy was celebrated by His Grace, Bishop Mushegh Babayan, Operations Director of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. At the conclusion of the liturgy, the Pontiff of All Armenians blessed the children of the Eurnekian Public School of Varghashapat, who had gathered in the chancel of the Mother Cathedral, and gave them small gifts. His Holiness blessed the children and extended to them his best wishes for the day.
