St. Mesrob Armenian Apostolic Church of Ottawa celebrated Easter on Sunday April 7, 2013.
The Feast of Holy Resurrection of our Lord took place at St Mark’s Church, in Ottawa. His Eminence Bishop Bagrat Galstanian, Primate of the Canadian Diocese was present on this date, with Fr. Komitas Mirzakhanyan, Pastor of Holy Cross Armenian Church of Laval who officiated the Divine Liturgy, with the assistance of Deacons Ivan Gyadayan, Varuzhan Margaryan, Kami Sarimanukyan and Sevag Aseyan.
His Eminence Bishop Bagrat Galstanian delivered an inspiring sermon and at the end of the Divine Liturgy and then invited all the children to the altar for their Easter blessing. Following the Divine Liturgy the congregation was invited to a special Easter hospitality reception which was organized by the Ladies Guild of St. Mesrob Church. After the blessing of the table, the children with their parents proceeded with the traditional egg cracking contest.
Following the hospitality hour, also on this date, St. Mesrob Church held it’s the Annual General Assembly. The meeting was held under the auspices of His Eminence Bishop Bagrat Galstanian. The officers of the assembly were chosen and a quorum was verified prior to the opening of the meeting. The meeting was opened with a prayer by Srpazan Bagrat. The agenda was presented and approved. The meeting covered the various reports of the church. The financial and budget statements were presented, discussed and approved. Under new business, one new item was discussed. Mr. Jean Philippe Tashjian made a brief presentation, discussing the possible future acquisition of a church property for the St. Mesrob community. The Parish Council will pursue more information on this initiative. Elections were held for Parish Council and Diocesan Delegates. The following names were voted into office for 2013-2014.
