B1On Sunday, August 18, 2013 the Feast of the Assumption of the Holy Mother of God was solemnly celebrated in the Diocesan Parishes.

In MONTREAL, Rev. Fr. Vazgen Boyajyan celebrated Holy Divine Liturgy and delivered the sermon of the day. The Komitas choir led by choirmaster Mr. Ara Toshikian sang the Holy Badarak. Following the Liturgy, the traditional ceremony of the blessing of grapes took place.

B2In TORONTO, Rev. Archpriest Fr. Zareh Zargarian, Pastor celebrated the Divine Liturgy, accompanied by the church Deacons and Acolytes. The beautiful prayers sung by the Church Choir members, directed by Mr. Shahe Altounian & Mrs. Sona Artinian on the organ, made the Holy Mass as beautiful as it could be.

The community members whose first names are related to this wonderful feast day were invited by Fr. Zargarian to receive special blessings from the Holy Altar. At the end of the liturgy, the ceremony of blessing of the grapes took place outside the church, followed by BBQ lunch organized by the dedicated and hardworking members of Holy Trinity Armenian Church Women’s Guild.

B3In LAVAL, Holy Cross Parish the Church was filled to capacity. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Komitas Mirzakhanyan, assisted by the deacons and acolytes of the Church.

During the Divine Liturgy Rev. Komitas Mirzakhanyan reflected on the message of the feast and the image of the Holy Mother, which is the utmost example of virtue and purity, modesty and sacrifice; for families, Armenian women and for all Armenian Christians.“On this Feast Day of the Assumption of the Holy Virgin, the Church also celebrates the dedication and sacrificial lives of all mothers. Inspired by St Mary the Holy Mother of God, you have taken upon yourselves the duty and responsibility to teach, educate and discipline your children and grandchildren the Word of God,” said Rev. Komitas Mirzakhanayn in his sermon.

B4At the conclusion of the service, Fr. Komitas Mirzakhanyan, with the participation of the deacons, Choir and faithful conducted the traditional service of the blessing of the grapes and Madagh. Der Hayr thanked all the Ladies who prepared the garpes and madagh and offered his blessings to all the faithful, asking God to fill their lives with heavenly grace and abundance, granting them a joyful, safe and peaceful life.
