A1On Monday, January 6, the Armenian Church will celebrate the Feast of the Nativity and Theophany of Our Lord Jesus Christ. In Armenian tradition, this feast day commemorates not only the birth of Christ, but also His baptism by John the Baptist. The latter is remembered through the “Blessing of Water” ceremony, which follows the Divine Liturgy on January 6.

On Sunday, January 5, the Eve of the Feast of Theophany, the Armenian Church will hold the Jrakalouyts (lamp-lighting) service. Following the Scripture readings, Divine Liturgy will be celebrated in the parishes-churches under the jurisdiction of our Diocese. His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisian will preside over the church service in Holy Trinity Church of Toronto.

On Monday, January 6, the Locum Tenens of the Armenian Church Diocese of Canada Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisian will celebrate Divine Liturgy at St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Cathedral in Montreal (10:30 a.m.); the Badarak will be preceded by a morning service beginning at 9:30 a.m. The “Blessing of Water” will follow the Divine Liturgy.
