On September 2, 2016, His Grace Bishop Abgar Hovakimyan, Primate of the Armenian Diocese of Canada, was invited to participate in an annual event organized by the Federal Liberal Association of Vimy in honor of Mrs. Eva Nassif, Member of the Federal Parliament for Vimy (Quebec). The Honourable John McCallum, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship of Canada, regional and local politicians, as well as leaders of various religious organizations and community representatives attended the event.
Rev. Fr Komitas Mirzakhanyan, Pastor of Holy Cross Armenian Church of Laval, Levon Isakhanyan, Chancellor, and Azad Polad executive member of the parish council of the Holy Cross Church accompanied the Primate at the event.
