On Sunday, February 22, 2015, His Grace Bishop Abgar Hovakimian, primate of the Armenian Church Diocese of Canada, visited St. Vartan parish of Mississauga. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by the parish priest Rev. Fr. Myron Sarkissian. A memorial service was held in memory of the late members of ARS (Armenian Relief Society) Mississauga ARAGAST chapter.
Following the Divine Liturgy St. Vartan parish held the Annual General Assembly presided by His Grace Bishop Abgar. The Reports of the parish priest, parish council and auxiliary bodies, as well as the financial report and budget were presented to the members of the church. Following the presentations, the new Parish Council was elected and the number of the Parish Council members was increased from 9 to 11 members. His Grace blessed the congregation and the new parish council wishing them more success and thanked former members of the parish council for their service. Bishop Abgar appreciated the dedication of the parish priest Fr. Myron Sarkissian. A special acknowledgment was made to Mr. Vasken Altounian for his long term service as the chairman of St. Vartan parish of Mississauga.
