By the invitation of His Excellency, Georgiy Enverovich Mamedov, Ambassador of Russian Federation to Canada, His Eminence attended the National Day reception of Russia in Ottawa last Tuesday, June 12, 2012.
Present, on this occasion, were the Foreign Affairs Minister of Canada, the Honourable John Baird, Cabinet ministers, members of the House of Commons, members of the Senate of Canada, dignitaries from the Diplomatic Corps, and invited guests. His Excellency Armen Yeganyan, Ambassador of the Republic of Armenia was also present.
Srpazan Galstanian offered his heartfelt congratulations to the government and people of Russia on the celebration of its National Day, which has been commemorated since 1992. On June 12, 1990 the “Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic” was adopted during the First Congress of the People’s Deputies in Russia. On his part, The Russian Ambassador, Mr. Mamedov, expressed gratitude to the Primate and the Canadian Armenian community.
Accompanying the Primate was Dn. Hagop Arslanian, Director of the Governmental Relations Office of the Diocese.
