On January 5, 2013, St. Mary Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church celebrated the Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ in a festive happy and joyful atmosphere.

The celebration was prepared for some time earlier. At the end of the fast of the Advent, the faithful gathered for the Divine Liturgy that was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Serop Azarian the Pastor, assisted by deacons Ara Siroonian and Albert Amato. The choir was present in semi-full rank to add to the beauty of the Liturgy.

Following the Liturgy, Father Serop asked that the youth of the church join him to celebrate the Birth of our Lord Jesus Christ with a program that he prepared called the “Service of Lights and Carols”. This is now an annual festive event that brings joy to the parishioners when they sing, praise and pray to the incarnate Lord to give them his graces, His mercy, His love and peace. The service was bilingual and very enjoyable with music, songs and praise and candle-lighting.

Father blessed all those present and they all chanted togther “Kristos Dznav yev Haydnetsav, Orhnyal e Haydnutyunn Kristodee – Christ is Born and is Revealed, blessed is the Revelation of Christ”. The same Divine Liturgy and water blessing took place in St. Catharines the next day.

To God in heavens be glory forever! (Rev. Fr. Serop Azarian)
