On Christmas Eve Day, January 5, 2013 Rev. Fr. Komitas Mirzakhanyan, Pastor of Holy Cross Church of Laval celebrated Divine Liturgy at St-Martin Catholic Church in Laval. Serving the Holy Altar were the Deacons and Acolytes of the Church. The “Etchmiadzin” Choir directed by Dn. Vahe Pouchikian sang the Divine Liturgy. A large number of Armenian faithful from Laval Parish attended the Divine Liturgy.
During the Divine Liturgy a number of grade 5 and 6 students from Armen-Quebec Alex Manoogian School read special scriptures from Bible and each one of them received a beautiful handmade Armenian crosses as a Christmas gift by Rev. Fr. Komitas Mirzakhanyan. At the end of the Divine Liturgy the Pastor conveyed his message and blessings to the faithful. Following the message Fr. Komitas invited all faithful parishioners to participate in the traditional house blessing ceremony which took place in the church.
The next day, 6th of January Christmas Divine liturgy was celebrated at Holy Cross Armenian Church by Rev. Fr. Komitas Mirzakhanyan, Pastor assisted by deacons and the acolytes who were serving the Holy Altar. The faithful community members joyfully participated in the singing of our sacred hymns.
Following the Divine Liturgy the traditional ceremony of blessing of water took place. This year Deacon Arto Sevaciyan served as godfather for the jurorhnek, or Blessing of Water ceremony, which commemorates the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist.
