In Windsor, a southern city in the province of Ontario, an Armenian community is known to have emerged at about the same time as those in Montreal and Toronto. Its parish, The Holy Resurrection Armenian Church of Windsor was officially established on May 23, 1993.
St. John’s Anglican Church was rented for the celebration of the Divine Liturgy, and this facility continues to be used by the parish for this and other purposes. The parish held church services when clergymen visited from other communities.
Following the Liturgy, parishioners come together at the Armenian Community center of Windsor and organize a dinner together with ARS members.
This year Fr. Myron visited the parish also during the ‘Medz Bahots’ time and held a baptism and met Iraqi Armenian refugee families accompanied by Deacon Manuel Akcambazyan from Mississauga parish.
Fr. Myron’s next trip in Windsor will be on April 27, 2014, to celebrate Easter Divine Liturgy, also to commemorate the 99th Anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
